Russian tennis players will take to the courts in Dubai

Andrei Rublev and Daniil Medvedev will take part in a tennis tournament in Dubai.

Russian tennis players Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev will take part in The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai in February.

Andrei Rublev, 25, is the 2020 Olympic mixed doubles champion; winner of 15 ATP tournaments; winner of the 2021 Davis Cup and the 2021 ATP Cup with the Russian national team; and a finalist in the ATP Tennis Open final among tennis players under the age of 21.

Daniil Medvedev is the former world number one singles player, winner of one Grand Slam, finalist of three Grand Slam singles tournaments, winner of the 2020 ATP Final Tournament, finalist of the 2021 ATP Final Tournament, winner of 15 ATP singles tournaments, Davis Cup and 2021 ATP Cup winner with the Russian national team.

At the championship in Dubai, the Russians will join Novak Djokovic and possibly Rafael Nadal. Also, 20th-ranked Karen Khachanov of the world is declared to participate in the ATP 500 tournament. “The Tennis Championships in Dubai gives fans the opportunity to see the world’s best players,” said Colm McLaughlin, executive vice chairman and general manager of Dubai Duty Free.

Andrey Rublev won the tournament last year and will defend his title this year. Daniil Medvedev returns to Dubai for the third time.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, featuring the world’s best racquet players, opens the tennis season in Dubai. The championship is part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) World Tour series and includes the men’s ATP 500 series and the women’s WTA 100 series.

The championships take place Feb. 19-March 4. Spectators will witness heated battles at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. In addition, the organizers have provided a rich entertainment program for the whole family.
